Lost amidst Chinese dessert heaven in Saigon: Tuoi Tre News

News article I co-edited and wrote during my internship at Tuoi Tre News. I did an extensive amount of research on the history of the desserts I chose to include and had lots of fun shadowing the reporters.

The Other Side of the Sun

Short, expository prose. My inspiration came from a parisian-chic, Julia Andrews look-alike I met during my job at the bakery. I played around with adjectives, metaphors, personification and sensory imagery.

A Crash Course on Biking

Short narrative for English class: write about something you left behind. I played around with time jumping and voice throughout this piece; it reads more like a journal entry as opposed to the typical narrative (similar to Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye).

Nature's Waltz

I submitted this piece for Ferlinghetti's Essay Contest in my junior year of high school and won runner-up! I turned it into a free-verse after submission because I wanted the piece to have less restraint.
