Nature's Waltz

Published on

The moon, still, hangs delicately above the crystal lake, just high enough to admire herself over the silent waters.
Her reflection sinks,
steady,
slowly,
and softly
as she listens to the pitter-patter of gentle rain.
The sweet fragrance of pine trees gingerly kiss the brisk air.
And the soft caress of the autumn breeze trace the silky contour of each cloud in the sky.

A jay drinks from a nearby dewdrop as she prepares her eager wings.
She hops on a sleeping branch and prepares a tender take-off.
Her wings lift her high above the mahogany brick buildings
and she soars through the fields of silver grass that waltz along to the mellow winds.

A crisp golden light
casts a sweet, honey glaze over the mountainous horizon.

A crowd of purple lilies cheer breathlessly as a squirrel scurries down a pebble trail to the barn.
He warmly greets his complacent comrades who are busy swaying along to their own harmony in the perfume of broom-swept oak planks.

The sun begins to flaunt his blazing, golden rays
as the squirrel waves his wistful farewell to his friends
and peacefully returns to his pebble trail.

The effervescent ambiance of noon is gradually consumed by bittersweet darkness as the moon awakes from her beauty sleep. And the silence of the night is instantly extinguished by the comforting luminescence of flickering lamp posts.
