Rotten to the Core

Do you think the Earth feels this way, too?

Is she embarrassed of her unsanded edges,
her unruly valleys,
her bounteous hilltops,
her powerful winds,
her swelling tides?

Sometimes I like to think she does
Because maybe
if something so vastly beautiful could feel so ashamed of her shape and size --

maybe I'm not as bad as I thought I was.
